Remembering...Janet Ellen Morris
AMHA and the world mourns the passing of Janet Ellen Morris. Janet passed peacefully at her home in Massachusetts on August 10, 2024, at the age of 78 with her husband, Chris, and her dogs by her side. Janet and Chris met in 1965 and shared life, side by side, for the next 59 years.
Janet was an amazing person, an accomplished author, and lifelong equestrian. She served the United States as a Defense Analyst and was a member of the Council of Foreign Relations Independent Task Force on Nonlethal Weapons and Capabilities, writing many papers and articles on military and national security topics. In addition, co-authoring with her husband, Chris, and others, Janet published more than forty books spanning nearly 50 years.
Janet and Chris founded the world-champion Morgan horse program, Paradise Morgans, in 1996. In 1998, their Morgan horse success began with world championships for their foundation mare, UVM Christine. Other homebred champions followed such as Pastorale, Spring Diva, Concordia, Privilege CH, and more.
Janet left an indelible mark on the world and our Morgan community. Our deepest condolences to Chris, family, and friends.
