In Memory: Beverley Anne Olson

Beverley Anne Olson, age 92, of Sultan, Washington passed away on Thursday, April 18 2024

Beverley Anne Stoebuck Olson was born in Wichita, Kansas, August 2nd, 1931, the 2nd child of Donice Brees Stoebuck and William Douglas Stoebuck. She had one sibling, Bill, who preceded her in death.

Beverley's lifelong passions were family, Morgan horses, and real estate.

Beverley married Richard Olson, who worked at a stable near Wichita. During their partnership of 67 years they raised 5 children starting in Kansas, and ending in Washington state. Beverley was an excellent mother and grandmother, supportive of her large family’s many endeavors. She always included her kids in her horsey adventures and garnered great devotion from her 25 grandchildren. Beverley loved all animals and counted her furry menagerie as dear family members.

Beverley acquired her first Morgan horse when she was 14. This started a love affair with Morgans, which provided many adventures and much delight throughout her life. As newlyweds Beverley and Richard bought a small farm and began their dream of raising Morgans near Wichita. Beverley loved bloodlines and history. She spent countless hours researching Morgan history, writing articles for the Morgan magazine and promoting Morgan horses locally, and on the national scene. In the early 1960’s, when the young family moved to the Seattle area, they brought their horses with them, and Beverley continued in her activities on behalf of the breed. Their farm, Shiloh Morgans, produced dozens of lovely horses for family pleasure, as well as numerous national champions.

A national figure in the Morgan horse world, Beverley was inducted into the American Morgan Horse Association Hall of Fame. She also received achievement awards nationally, regionally and locally for her devotion to the breed. In particular, she was a regular fixture of the Morgan Grand Nationals each fall for decades and showed her own horses well into her 80’s. Beverley’s dearest lifelong friends are in the Morgan community.

A deep love of real estate was instilled in her by both of her parents. Beverley’s real estate ventures became a prominent income stream for the family, funding many of their passions as well as her own.

Beverley was a steadfast church member all of her life. In recent years, she was pleased to be in the founding group of "Take the Next Step" ministries in Monroe, Washington. Over the years, she taught a lot of Sunday school classes, kept many church nurseries and contributed to numerous mission organizations.

After a long full life, Beverley died at peace, surrounded by family on April 18, 2024 in Monroe, Washington.

She is survived by her 5 children: Rick Olson, Kathy Cramer, Rob Olson, Gretchen Wilson and Paul Olson; their spouses, kids and grandkids. Beverley will be missed by family and friends.
