In Memory: Kathy Janes

AMHA mourns the loss of long-time member, Kathy Dalton (Athey) Janes who passed away surrounded by her loving family at home April 26, 2024. She was born in Rutland, Vermont on March 4, 1958.

Kathy loved, raised and lived around all types of animals her whole life. Kathy loved breeding, raising and showing her Morgan horses in Vermont, New England, New York and at the Grand National Morgan Horse Show in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. (She and her husband, Greg, operated Jagged J Farm, producing and showing many lovely Morgans including Jagged J Gentleman Jack, the 2018 World Champion Futurity Yearling Colt.) 

She leaves her husband Gregory L. Janes, who she married on October 16, 1982. She is survived by her father Dalton H. Athey II and mother Catherine (Noyes) Sumption. Her children Shawn and wife Faith Janes, James Janes, Kristle Janes, Katherine and husband Wesley Gray and Lily Janes. Grandchildren Hunter Janes, Connor Janes, Zander Janes, Melody Janes and Abigail Gray. Siblings Timothy Korson, Bonnie Keith, Dalton Athey III, Bonnie Orye and Farah Rabidoux, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Her Uncle Dale Athey and his wife Sammy.

Kathy was predeceased by her cousin Craig Athey, her Grandmother and her Pops.
