PSSM1 Testing Through the Registry Under Consideration
May 22, 2024
During the May 4, 2024, Registry Committee meeting, committee members discussed the possibility of offering optional PSSM1 testing through AMHA. All were in agreement that AMHA should offer this testing, pending attorney review, to give our breeders the tools to assist them in making informed decisions for their breeding programs.
AMHA’s legal counsel is reviewing our proposal now and once we have a legal opinion, the Registry Committee will reconvene.
If AMHA does offer optional PSSM1 testing, testing previously done by individuals, through VGL only, could be submitted to AMHA for a nominal fee; and once the horse’s identity is confirmed by VGL, entered into the Registry records.
Please stay tuned for updates.
