AMHA Distance Championships 2023 - Congratulations!
Lexington, Kentucky: The 5th Annual AMHA Distance Championships were held September 29 through October 1, 2023, at the scenic Huntersville Hundred site in Menahga, Minnesota. The ride is organized by the Arabian Horse Association and is joined by multiple breed associations for their breed specific National Championships. This year brought three Morgans to compete in the beautiful weather.
Brooke Moeller (Iowa) competed with two Morgans, Rusty Chris-te (Rusty) and CAUM Aurora’s Magical Luv (Aurora). Brooke and Aurora took home the AMHA Limited Distance Championship for the 30-mile event, placing 5th out of 19, and was named Morgan Best Condition and High Vet Score Overall. With Rusty (who is 18 years young), Brooke competed in the 40-mile Competitive Trail Ride, finishing in 8 hours and 30 minutes, 5th out of 15.
Isac Dymesich (Wisconsin) rode his palomino gelding, Lindahl Jefe (Ranger), who was a foundation stallion at the Sunrise Ranch. The team earned the AMHA 50-mile Endurance Ride Championship title with a time of 5 hours and 59 minutes and finished 13th overall in a field of 27 talented distance-riding teams. They were also the AMHA 30-mile Limited Distance Reserve Champion team.
Congratulations, Brooke and Isac, and thank you for your dedication and talent in the sport of Distance Riding. You beautifully, and successfully, presented the Morgan horse in a very competitive multi-breed championship event. Thank you, also, to the Arabian Horse Association for holding this prestigious competition. We are looking forward to the August 2024 event to be held at the Iron Mountain Jubilee in Cripple Creek, Virginia.
