Lexington, Kentucky: The American Morgan Horse Educational Charitable Trust (AMHECT) is proud to announce that Melanie Noble of Burkland Farm in Rowley, Massachusetts, is the recipient of the 2023 Amanda Hill Young Breeders Incentive Grant. Melanie was selected from a pool of sixteen excellent candidates.
The Amanda Hill Young Breeders Incentive Grant celebrates the memory of Amanda Hill and her connection with the equine industry. Amanda was a long time Morgan owner, exhibitor, and breeder whose passion for the Morgan horse was highlighted in her volunteer work across the Morgan industry.
This Grant is designed to help young Morgan breeders achieve their breeding dreams. It may be awarded annually to a young AMHA member (under the age of 40) who is developing a breeding program intended to strengthen the quality of the Morgan breed. Amanda had a vision that recognized the need for younger generations to develop and continue these breeding programs so that the love of the Morgan horse could be shared from generation to generation.
Melanie Noble grew up in Connecticut, the granddaughter of an avid Morgan enthusiast and breeder. Today, Melanie “considers herself lucky” to be a member of the Burkland Farm family where breeding Morgans for quality, beauty, brains, and athleticism is paramount. Their small, historic breeding program continues to show strong results and is now centered around two mares, Burkland Flammabelle and Grand Cru Margaux. This grant will enable the family to continue the Burkland breeding program and to help create their next generation of breeding stock.
Melanie was formally presented her check for $2,500 on Thursday evening at the New England Regional Morgan Horse Show in Northampton, Massachusetts by AMHA President Steven Handy and Paula Kimball, Amanda’s Mother, along with Amanda’s close friends Stacey Myers, Scott and Danielle Neidlinger and Liz Ciccone.
Congratulations to our 2023 Amanda Hill Young Breeders Incentive Grant recipient, Melanie Noble!
