In Memoriam: Suzy Lucine
Suzanne Lucine, 67, of Riverview Park, passed away in her residence on Friday, May 5, 2023.
Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Albert A. Lucine, Jr, who had served as AMHA President and several terms as the Registry Committee Chairman. Her mother, Mary Jane (Lawson) Lucine, worked as show secretary for the Mid-A Morgan Show for many years. Suzanne graduated from Kutztown University with a degree in special education. She was the wife of Jeffrey A. Koller. They were married on September 23, 2006, and celebrated sixteen years of marriage.
Suzy has long been a fixture in the Morgan world. She was editor of The Morgan Horse magazine from 1989 through 1995, and until her passing continued to provide beautiful photographs and expertise to the publication. Suzy was known for having an artistic eye for photography and was the first recipient of the Mabel Owen Media Award from the AMHA, given to a person or group in the media with a documented body of work that has contributed above and beyond in providing content, adding to the public’s ability to learn about, enjoy, and record for posterity activities involving the Morgan horse.
Whether she was sharing historical and fun photographs or highlighting the achievements of others in print or online, Suzy was always a cheerleader, promoting the breed and its people with pride and admiration. Her loss is strongly felt within the Morgan horse community.
