One Morgan Horse Lost in Trailer Fire

Every horseman’s biggest fear, whether at home or on the road, came true for Jaisen von Ballmoos on Tuesday, October 2, on the way to the Morgan Grand National. While traveling on 44 West in Missouri, just outside of Oklahoma, his trailer caught fire with six horses and equipment on board.
With quick action, von Ballmoos pulled over and with the assistance of others who had stopped, got all six off of the trailer. Sadly, a yearling named Laing Hill Big River, owned by Al Garner, had to be put down.
“Jaisen’s British resident parents were seeing the country by driving to the show with him, so they were there for the horrific experience,” said Meghan von Ballmoos. “People on the highway were amazingly helpful and the horse community has been overwhelmingly helpful.”
A gofundme page has been set up to assist the von Ballmoos family with their loss of equipment and clothing, www.gofundme.com/von-ballmoos-horse-trailer-fire. More than $24,000 has been raised to date.
