The American Morgan Horse Association Young Adult Alliance (YAA), presented their fourth annual Judging School Scholarship to Celia Salmon of Middleville, Michigan, recently at the Grand National & World Championship Morgan Horse Show®. The Professional Development Project created by this passionate group awards a $1,500 scholarship to one individual aged 21-40, professional or amateur, who is interested in attaining their Morgan "R" judging card.

"This scholarship was developed to remove roadblocks and encourage young adults to join the Morgan judging pool. Through providing financial support, we enable qualified candidates to gain their judging card earlier than might have been previously possible," said YAA Co-Chair Steven Handy.

"We had a great group of applicants this year, they were all well qualified," Handy continued. "Celia is a third-generation Morgan horse owner, who grew up competing in the Morgan Youth of the Year competitions as well as national judging competitions. As a teenager, she began to work as a scribe for judges and has even judged local horse shows. Her passion for the Morgan horse and her respect for the responsibility that comes with judging made her stand out among the qualified candidates."

The 2018 YAA Judging School Scholarship application will be released in December 2017. To learn more about the project, visit http://www.morganhorse.com/yaa/yaa-project.
