More Time to Nominate for Class of 2015 Performance Incentive Award

The Morgan Weanling Gala (MWG), in partnership with Saddle Horse Report, debuted a new Performance Incentive Award at the 2016 Morgan Grand National. Proving that Gala winners are the performance horses of the future, the filly, INTENSE, trotted away with the Inaugural Performance Incentive Award as the Two-Year-Old Pleasure Driving World Champion. With trainer/breeder John Hufferd at the lines for owner Roxanne Sardelli Greenway, this smart combination received a mainstay of the award with Diane Conrady, the nominator of the sire SpiceOLife Present Tense GCH also receiving a portion.

Designed to showcase the foals by nominated MWG stallions as they mature, this award pays out to the first foal(s) by a nominated sire from each class year to win a World’s Championship in ANY Performance Division beginning with their two-year-old year. Saddle Horse Report has committed $2,500 to each class year and all Incentive nomination fees are added to their generous donation.

Nominations are coming in for the Class of 2015, but there are a lot more eligible foals out there that need to be a part of this expanding program! In an effort to maximize earning potential, we will now accept nominations for the Class of 2015 until June 30, 2017 at $250 and, thereafter, the Nomination Fee will be $450; accepted until the Class Year’s Performance Incentive Award is attained. This will give two-year-olds a little more training time and will also allow more entries if the class is rolled over beyond the two-year-old year.

Nominations for the Class of 2016 also are being accepted at $150 until December 31, 2017, then the higher nomination fees will go into play. 2018 will be these nominees’ first opportunity to win Incentive money.

We are very excited about these changes and believe that it will expand the number of nominees we have for each class year. Currently we have 11 nominees for the Class of 2015 and 12 nominees for the Class of 2016. The more nominees we have, the more we support the Morgan industry and the more money we have to award!
