Office Closure Friday, March 21
The American Morgan Horse Association office in Kentucky will be closed Friday, March 21 to allow staff to travel to/from and attend the memorial services for co-worker and friend Brenda Newell who served as AMHA’s office manager since January of 2020.

Brenda Ann Newell, age 66 of Lexington, passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2025, at UK Medical Center, Lexington, KY. Brenda was born on July 26, 1958, in Somerset, KY, the daughter of Charles Newell and Helen Thompson Newell. Brenda worked as the office manager for the American Morgan Horse Association at the Kentucky Horse Park. She was an avid quilter. She loved to travel and go to the beach.
Brenda is survived by twin children….her son, Nathaniel Swartz of Paint Lick, KY; her daughter, Tiffany (Charles) Mounce of Somerset; four grandchildren, Cami Williams, Gabby Mounce, Melia Swartz and Paisley Mounce; one sister, Janice (Jeff) Hatfield of Bronston; one sister-in-law, Sandra Newell; her dog, Ilio; nephew and niece, Jeremy and Jessica Hatfield; great nieces, Kaylee Brake and Kaydence Hatfield; extended family members, neighbors and friends who are saddened by her passing.
In addition to her parents, Charles and Helen Newell, Brenda was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Newell.
There will be a visitation on Friday, March 21, 2025, from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 W Hwy 80, Somerset, KY 42503. A Celebration of Life will follow at 2:00 pm on Friday, March 21st at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Pearson, Church of the Savior, Nicholasville, KY officiating.
