AMHA mourns the passing of Robert Milton Sim, 82, of Morrison, Illinois, who passed away at home surrounded by his family on Thursday, December 19, 2024. Robert was born November 17, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Arthur and Dorothy (Tanck) Sim.

He served his Country in the United States Army. While serving, he was a Helicopter pilot flying the Huey UH-1 “Gunship” in Vietnam.

Robert was united in marriage to Laurica Chalmers on July 5, 1980, in The Pas, Manitoba, Canada. He worked as an over the road Truck Driver for many years.

Robert loved hunting. He was especially proud of his Scottish heritage and was a member of many Scottish Organizations. Robert raised Scottish Highland Cattle and Morgan horses (Heatherwald Morgans). He loved the Gordon Setters he had over the years, and considered the dogs as family. Above all, Robert loved his family very much and will be greatly missed.

Robert is survived by his wife — Laurie of Morrison, IL; daughters —Heather (Dave Woolison) Sim of Morrison, IL, and Alexis (Eric Miller) Laughlin of Milledgeville, IL; sons — Robert (Elise) Sim of Canton, GA, and Andrew Sim of Morrison, IL; 7 grandchildren, brother — James (Linda) Sim of Colorado Springs, CO; with several nieces; nephews; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of his life was held on Friday, December 27, at the First Presbyterian Church in Morrison. Arrangements and this obituary provided by Lemke Funeral Homes.
