Trail

Show Trail

Classes can specify whether English or western tack is to be used and the obstacles are to test both the horse and the riders technical skills as well as maneuverability. The six to eight obstacles can include lope, jog & walk over poles, backing through poles, bridges, gates and jumps.

Scoring is based on precision in combination with the willingness and how smooth the pair navigates each obstacle within the course. All horses enter the ring with a 70 point score and either gain or lose points for each obstacle based on how it was completed.

Morgan trail classes are conducted in accordance with the western chapter, Subchapter WS03, Trail Horse section. When shown under western tack, refer to MO132 for correct appointments and attire.

Trail Riding

If horse shows aren't your thing, take a Morgan on a trail ride! Morgans are surefooted, have ground covering gaits and have the stamina to ride all day and be happy about it.
